Philippine Independent Church (PIC)

Mission Statement:

The Philippine Independent Church (PIC) is a congregation of new men and women educated in and liberated by the teaching of Christ, dedicated to the worship of God in spirit and in truth, nourished and sustained in the Eucharist, and commissioned to be witnesses to God’s love in the world.

On September 1, 1986, Fr. Gerry Engnan and a small group of Filipinos from the PIC community started a congregation at St. Mark’s. A few years later, St. Mark’s became the home church to many PIC members living in Southern California.

In 1991, the congregation was registered & incorporated in the state of California as the Parish of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. With the spirit of concordat of full communion between the PIC and the Episcopal Church, St. Mark’s became one of the few churches in the diocese of LA where this concordat agreement was realized. Although the PIC has her own Pilipino services, parish council, & sectoral organizations, PIC members share in the ministry, worship, and parish life of St. Mark’s.

Schedule of Services:

First Friday…………………..Healing Mass and Bible Study, 7 pm
Second & Fourth Saturdays….Celebration of Misang Pilipino, 5:30 pm
House Church………………..Held in different homes of parish members, arranged every month.
